For many years the Ellen Harris Center has served as home base for Operation Shoestring's after school program, summer program and community resources. With a 50-year anniversary approaching, Operation Shoestring was growing in programming and services, while its physical building was failing. Duvall Decker began servicing the building by providing maintenance to keep the building functional, while working with Operation Shoestring to plan a complete building renovation, a physical fulfillment of the organization's amazing mission of service to its community.

If each building/intervention fundamentally changes the experience of the city, (which we believe) then the question is, "How does each project help shape the public good?" We believe developments are best crafted from the architect's hopeful perspective of fostering cultural growth. We ask ourselves, "Is a project economically viable, but more importantly, does it contribute to the growth of the micro and macro economies?" The practice of architecture today is often overly focused on appearance or ultra-performance, and as a result, it unwittingly falls prey to the most superficial measures of value, market taste.

Duvall Decker is an expanded architectural practice located in Jackson, Mississippi that provides architectural, planning, real estate development and facility maintenance services. The firm was founded in 1998 by Roy T. Decker, FAIA and Anne Marie Decker, FAIA. Anne Marie and Roy bring varied and complementary interests and abilities to a practice dedicated to the creation of forms and environments that enrich the lives of those who encounter and inhabit them. They accomplish this work with the help of a talented and dedicated team of architects, planners, maintenance professionals, and support staff.
