Moving in and out of the house during dark hours is critical. Lighting the landscape for security, activity or to set a mood increases winter enjoyment from inside and summer functionality. LED lighting has come a long way and is no longer the cold blue light we think of. The light quality is now warm and inviting. LED lighting is much less costly to operate both in electrical bills and in bulb life. On average its dark the year so we like to make the most of outdoor lighting.

Stone is the ultimate material. It outlasts any other substance in structure, in ornamentation and in beauty. Stone, along with plants and water, is one of the few original elements of our environment. Stacked stone and flagstone create drama in a landscape. As a decorative, sculptural element, stone retains nature as the central focus. Faux stone, which is lightweight and uniform, can be used to achieve a stone look or to match the homes existing materials. Whether it's a grand staircase, small steps, walls, surfacing or art stone lends itself to the outdoor environment.

Al Fresco dining has been a favorite of all cultures. Time slows down when we sit outside to enjoy the pleasures of a meal. With thoughtful settings wind can be mitigated, heat added and views incorporated into your outdoor dining room. Meal preparation and outdoor cooking add a level of functionality to the landscape. Covered areas keep things dry and useable in inclement weather. Sitting walls can double as serving areas. Whether its pavers, stone, concrete or other materials the key to outdoor dining is a secure surface on which the table and chairs perch in a meaningful location.

Wood has a universal and appealing presence to every culture and country. It is a renewable, local, beautiful natural resource that plays a vital role in a balanced environment and is plentiful in the Northwest. Wood was once alive and is not a manufactured material but is a varied as the trees it comes from giving it such character. Trellis's, arbors and pergolas are perfect choices for using wood to add vertical structure to your yard. Decks allow water to filter to the earth below and are a lovely surface to lounge on.

Caring for you landscape on a regular basis makes all the difference and Nyce Gardens is here to do that. We will service your landscape using sound horticultural practices. We use mulching mowers for your lawn. Plants are pruned for health and to celebrate their natural habit. Gardens are monitored for disease and insects. Debris is cleared from paths, drives and patios. Leaves are raked and taken for composting. Beds are weeded. The result is an outdoor environment that changes with the seasons and is always ready for your enjoyment.

A fire pit or an outdoor fireplace always makes a great conversation piece and a gathering place. The ambience of a glowing flame and the warmth it provides adds an incredible level of comfort to our cool NW climate. Roasting marshmallows is an added benefit. In celebration of air quality we recommend using propane instead of wood as it burns cleaner with no sparks or smell to concern the neighbor. Catalytic converters are an option though when a wood fire is desired. Comfortable furniture is a must around your fire as hours of lounging and visiting happen here.
