A highly skilled friend once said he knew so much about his trade because he had made every mistake possible. There were many such moments of bitter education at Ace during the beginning. But eventually the knowledge and skill outgrew the errors and frustrations. We became recognized as solid, reliable competitors sought out by clients and architects. Eventually we were entrusted with more and more challenging, unique projects requiring all of our craft and ability (as well as patience and good humor).
We do all types of remodeling-it's not unusual for us to do a large remodeling project that includes new roofing and siding, window replacement, one or more additions, all new baths and kitchen, floor refinishing, painting, etc. We do renovations, historic restorations, site work, swimming pools and elevators. We have added second stories and retrofitted basements on existing buildings. The vast majority of our work is residential although we are occasionally talked into a commercial project. Among many distinguished clients, a number of local architects have flattered us by asking Ace to work on their own homes as well as their clients'.
Early during our first few years in business we decided to spend some of our non-existent Advertising Budget on t-shirts. The first shirt was a fire engine red pocket tee that featured our new, ladder-toting carpenter logo and a saying that one of our employees was fond of: Good Enough For Who It's For. It was an instant hit. Everyone including our clients loved it. Dozens more sayings have been added as well as all colors of the rainbow, women's panties and thongs, infant lap-shoulder tees, women's tank tops, etc.
