Any construction project starts with a well-laid foundation, and it takes an experienced company to best prepare the ground. V&K Construction was founded in 2005 by father and son team, Vernon and Kerry Nussbaumer, but the foundation for the company was laid over 35 years ago with Nussbaumer Excavating. We are local, family owned and operated, and we take personal pride in every project we do. We are also an Emerging Small Business (ESB) Certified company, and small business means exceptional personal service.
Vernon grew up on the family farm in Helvetia, which is now V&K Construction's home base. After his service in the Army, he was an oil rig diver in the 1960's, and a truck driver before he went into construction with his brother in 1975. While he leaves most of the hard stuff to Kerry these days, he is still sometimes found behind the wheel of one of our rigs. Kerry started working with his dad and uncle at Nussbaumer Excavating in 1990 during high school summer break. He graduated from Oregon State University with a BS in Housing Design in 2000 and quickly returned to the family business.
