The Nivisons began their business with an understanding of their customers needs. In 1947, many homes in rural North Carolina were without modern conveniences. Few homes in these areas had heat except fireplaces and many were without indoor plumbing and bathroom facilities. Rural Plumbing and Heating began servicing these communities in the spring of 1947. Based in the basement of the Nivison's home, Rural Plumbing and Heating began business with four trucks. The Nivison's home was near the North Carolina coast and they worked throughout Eastern North Carolina.

Purchased new house in May 2018 and after moving in realized we had horrible water pressure in house and outside hose faucets. We contacted them and they sent plumber out to tell us it was because we had 3/4" meter from the city that was causing our problems. Called city and they checked the pressure with no issues on their side and all meters are 3/4" in island. Not to mention both our nieghbors have great pressure. So we called a plumber and he pointed out they ran 1/2" lines they the entire house which is why we have no water flow. Our outside faucets barely spray 6' with sprayer nozzle. Needless to say neither SECOF or the plumber they hired Rural plumbing wanted to fix the problem. There only response was that it passed inspection.
