Roofing system warranties are a big deal - especially when you're protecting valuable assets. We recommend that you discuss all warranties and options provided by your roofing contractor to make sure your building is fully protected. Here's the problem: It's common for businesses to think they're getting guarantees on their roofing services with warranties. But unfortunately, the warranty coverage may only apply to materials used and does not include installation. If your roof was poorly installed and you experience problems, your material warranty is useless.

Often called "elastomeric systems, " single-ply roofing membranes come in a variety of materials including PVC, TPO, and EPDM. They are either thermoplastic or thermosetting in nature, and are designed to be installed in one layer. Single-ply membranes are flexible and offer superior resistance to UV radiation and acid rain. These membranes typically come in a black or white finish and are glued, fastened or installed directly over roof insulation material. Single-ply membranes are factory-manufactured sheet membranes.
Slate is a long-lasting roofing system that can provide superior durability and add a distinctive touch of timeless beauty to your commercial property. Slate is been highly acclaimed for its natural beauty and remarkable longevity. Roofing slate is a dense, durable, naturally occurring material that is essentially nonabsorbent. Two properties of slate are cleavage and fracture. It has natural cleavage, which permits it to be easily split in one direction. Fracture, usually occurring at right angles to the cleavage, is called the grain.

Tile roofing has a very long life cycle. In fact, you can generally expect it to last longer than that of the material on which the roofing rests. Tile doesn't rot or burn, and it cannot be harmed by insects. It requires little maintenance, and comes in a variety of colors, types, styles and brands. Clay tile is produced by baking molded clay into tile. The density of the clay is determined by the length of time and temperature at which it is heated. Tiles may be glazed and also may have surface texture treatments applied.

Shingles may be produced in a single layer or two or more layers. The latter generally are known as laminated strip shingles, or architectural shingles, and they have a three dimensional appearance. Both 3-tab asphalt shingles and laminated asphalt shingles contain a strip of factory applied adhesive that is activated by the sun's heat after installation and seals each shingle to the next course. The seal strip also provides much of a shingle's resistance to wind uplift. Shingles with factory-applied adhesive have a strip of clear polyester film applied to each shingle to prevent the sealing strips from bonding the shingles together when packaged.
