There are many schools of thought regarding the proper pruning of plants, trees and shrubs. We have been educated by some of the premier specialists in the field, and we pride ourselves on combining timely application of these techniques with an artistic approach to the finished work. In most cases, a plant or tree needs pruning to open the structure and allow light and air circulation back inside so that the plant receives uniform sun and air exposure. Other times, we may apply reconstructive techniques to make right what was done wrong before.

A landscape would be naked and unnatural if we planted everything in the soil, watered, and left it to grow. The soil, as well as the plants, is very much a living entity. By mulching, we mimic nature's way of protecting landscapes from extreme elements. While there are many types of mulch available in the market, most are used with only aesthetics in mind. Decorative barks may be attractive, but mulch needs to serve more functions than visual pleasure alone. We use a composted horse stable blend that provides a nutrient rich medium which releases its fertilizers slowly throughout the growing season as the plants have need.

Our craftsmen have the patience and talent of artists. Our designers team with our craftsmen to impart their practical experience and artist's eye in the construction of garden features such as decks, arbors, fences, and other garden accessories unique to specific garden settings. We utilize many different materials in the construction of garden projects and continually find new and innovative ways to approach each project. We promote the use of TREX™ building products especially in the construction of decks and edgings due to the durability and recycled composition in its manufacturing.

Stone in the garden creates a grounding sense of belonging. To set a stone or boulder properly, it should look as if the earth is anchoring the plants in their place. A landscape looks natural when you can't really tell if the stones were set there on purpose or if the garden was planted around their primeval existence. We commonly incorporate stone for foundation plantings, in pathways, low walls, water features, and in retaining wall/erosion remedies. We work with many types of stone and are adept in helping you make the right stone choices for your garden, yet we adhere to nature's examples for lessons in placement and balance.

In the name alone, a retaining wall is descriptive only in its practicality, but it can also be aesthetically pleasing and, in some cases, serve a dual purpose. Retaining walls can be situated to define pathways, enlarge planting beds, and create spatial interest in an otherwise redundant landscape. Additionally, a water feature can be used to create a natural looking waterfall. The possibilities are as endless as the types of materials that can be used to build them. We have used TREX™ materials to create flowing walls with natural curves and contours to great effect.

A beautiful garden is not soil and plants alone. When viewing the picturesque natural settings we may wish to emulate in our own gardens, we see soil contours dotted with boulders, natural swales emptying seasonal rains into streams, and large walls of rock shoring up an otherwise unstable hillside. In our efforts to bring nature closer to our homes, we mustn't neglect the other natural elements that make a landscape feel "natural" and help give our plantings a sense of place and belonging. Likewise, hardscaping the garden also gives us the opportunity to impart our human influence for practical and aesthetic uses in the forms of decks, arbors, fences and garden art.

Initially, the capacity in which a client enlists our help is that of a professional advisor. Our consultation services run the gamut from in-depth site analyses to simple advice on correct organic pest control methods. We are experienced in helping shape new ideas, or just providing technical assistance for a project already envisioned. At any level, we are proficient in providing you with any degree of consultation tailored to your specific situation and site. To embellish our extensive consultation package, we are developing an exhaustive Horticultural Diagnosis & Annual Maintenance Program Directive, which is aimed at providing clients with a large scale and in-depth analysis of their current landscape paired with an instructional seasonal care package.

Once your dream garden is complete, you'll want to extend your enjoyment of it into the night. Elegantly placed lighting will transform your landscape's sunny glow into evening illumination. Properly placed outdoor lighting will accent your garden features, illuminate paths and thoroughfares, and create more livable space for your home, day and night. The magic of textures and shadows dancing in a breeze, or in the evening stillness will provide your landscape with another chance to come alive. Besides the brilliance of illumination, there is the fact that a well-lit path is safer and more inviting.

Today, people and their environment are too often thought of as separate entities. When we become stressed, we find ourselves seeking the solace of some natural setting or sanctuary to become more grounded and to get ourselves back in rhythm. As horticulturalists and environmentalists, we strive to rebuild that fundamental connection with our surroundings and reintegrate the pulse of nature's dynamics into our lives. As a landscape company, we are driven by our naturalist sensibilities to create and maintain gardens that flow seemlessly between our homes and our natural environment.

Successful gardens can always be traced back to well-planned designs. Whether your garden goal is to create a tropical paradise, Mediterranean refuge, or native restoration, the success of the project will depend upon much more than pretty plant choices. A great design seeks to create an infrastructure that will support future plant growth, room for potential design additions, and the ability for expansion without reinventing the garden space. We have two in-house landscape designers with thorough backgrounds in scholastic and practical plant knowledge.

How water is used in the landscape is an issue of increasing importance and relevance. Seasonal threats of drought and water shortages have prompted water rationing measures for garden use. Landscapers and homeowners must seek alternatives to thirsty lawns and wasteful sprinklers. However, don't let that dictate what you can and cannot plant in your yard. Truly, a conscious effort should be made to help conserve water and other resources, but that doesn't mean you can't grow the garden you want.

Our standard maintenance regimes are tailored to achieving our clients' garden goals while imparting our professional recommendations for seasonal and practical needs. We approach each landscape from a pro-active stance to anticipate any potential problems and provide custom-care maintenance for each and every individual garden style. Plant care: Horticultural assessments of plant choice, health, and timely manicuring and fertilizations. Pest/disease evaluations: Regularly scheduled maintenance visits allow us to employ techniques that curb pests/diseases before they occur in the garden.

As a full service landscaping firm we offer our clients the reliable and consistent attention to detail that is paramount to the installation and maintenance of a coherent landscape. We employ an exhaustive set of horticultural techniques and talents to provide you with informed knowledge and reasoned practices. Our comprehensive approach will transform your conceptual visions into dreams realized. Our extensive service department offers professional consultation, award-winning landscape design, innovative irrigation techniques, and the installation and maintenance of softscape (i.e., planting, pruning, mulching) and hardscape (i.e., carpentry, stone work, lighting) garden components.
