My name is Sergei Tsoy, and my story begins when our family of 4, my father Igor, mother Alexandra, sister Marina and I moved to the USA in 1999. We had come from Kazakhstan to explore the other side of the earth, with just $1,500 to our name. With so little money, my parents knew that they would need to find work right away, and so that is what they did. My mother got a job working in a restaurant and my father began work as a painter. They believed wholeheartedly in the chance that we had as immigrants, the chance of a bright future in the "Land of the Free."
