Our involvement in the lumber business began in 1982. We owned Great Bay Hot Tub Company in Newmarket, New Hampshire, and used high-grade, clear Western Red Cedar to manufacture wooden hot tub barrels and sauna rooms. We felt there might be an opportunity to distribute high-grade Cedar, Redwood and Douglas Fir lumber to the local contractors, and the idea of Selectwood was born. The beginning years weren't a runaway success, but we loved the products we sold so we persevered. We bought an old brick warehouse on the Lamprey River in Newmarket and had to hand-carry all the wood shipments through a single loading door.

We offer entry doors in steel, fiberglass and wood from leading manufacturers. When a special wood entry door is required nothing compares to a custom or HeartWood's collections of fine Mahogany front entryway doors. Selectwood specializes and installs sliding glass and swinging French glass doors from Marvin and Integrity. Selectwood stocks a variety of composite decking to satisfy the various tastes and budgets requirements of our customer's projects. We currently stock composite decking from AZEK Deck, TimberTech and Duralife in most lengths and color options. Call Selectwood for expert advice on which decking will work best for your project. AZEK uses cellular PVC technology to create a low maintenance deck with excellent resistence to staining, scratching and mildew formation. Brownstone and Slate Gray are available in 12', 16' and 20' square shouldered and grooved.

Selectwood stocks a comprehensive inventory of both natural wood as well as composite decking. Natural wood species include Western Red Cedar, Douglas Fir, Meranti, Selangan Batu, and Ipe in a variety of sizes. Some decking products are available pre-finished. Ipe can be ordered pre-grooved for hidden fastener systems. Specific lengths can sometimes be a challenge. Call Selectwood for expert advice on which decking will work best for your project. Alaskan Yellow Cedar is a gorgeous, golden-hued natural wood that is durable, yet soft to touch.

We have a huge selection of composite and metal deck rail components, which allows the deck designer to mix and match pieces to create a custom look. The Selectwood Showroom is located in the left front section of our facility located at 275 Constitution Ave. Portsmouth NH. Showrooms hours are 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday and 8 am to 1 pm on Saturday. We are also available to meet with clients during non-business hours for appointments. In addition to display areas, the showroom houses our experienced inside sales team who act as sales consultants for builders, architects, designers and consumers. Our goal is not only to sell products but also act as educators for making informed decisions on building materials.

Selectwood stocks mouldings in both wood and composites for interior and exterior applications. Moisture-resistant PVC and Western Red Cedar mouldings are a great choice for exterior applications where many conventional wood mouldings do not perform well. We have created our own collection of poplar mouldings inspired by many classic New England designs. Mouldings are available primed or natural wood. Selectwood offers distinctive cost effective mouldings from clear kiln dried finger jointed pine for interior applications.
